Building Permit
No building or addition thereto shall be constructed within the city without first receiving a building permit. In addition, no fence shall be constructed or replaced until there has been approval of a building permit. (Ord. 2000-04, Passed November 6, 2000)
There is a $10.00 building permit fee that is required when you submit the permit for approval. Payment methods include: check, money order and/or cash. Payments and permits can be mailed to P.O. Box 248, Calamus, IA 52729, or placed in the drop box on the north side of City Hall at 198 2nd St.
Golf Cart Registration to Operate Within City Limits
Golf carts may be operated on city streets by persons possessing a valid driver’s license provided that a special permit is obtained from the City Council. The application for a permit shall set forth that the applicant meets the requirements of this section, the proposed routes of the applicant, and a compelling need for issuance of the permit. The City Council may impose restrictions and conditions in addition to those set forth in this section and may deny an application when a compelling need for the permit is not demonstrated. A golf cart shall not be operated upon a City street which is a primary road extension, i.e., State or Federal highway, but shall be allowed to cross a City street which is a primary road extension through the City. The golf cart shall be equipped with adequate brakes, a slow-moving vehicle sign, and a bicycle safety flag. The golf cart shall be operated only on the streets from sunrise to sunset. Golf carts operated on City streets need not be registered under Chapter 321 of the Code of Iowa (Ord. 1-2012, Passed April 2, 2012)

Solicitor's Permit
Before any person or organization engages in any of the practices defined herein, they must comply with all applicable Ordinances, and must also obtain from the City Clerk-Treasurer a permit in accordance with the provisions of sections 3-7-4 and 3-7-5. This permit shall extend no longer than sixty days. A fee of $5.00 shall be paid at the time of registration to cover the cost of investigation and issuance.
